Tooth Hypersensitivity

Definition

Sharp pain in response to cold, sweet, or air — usually from exposed dentin through gum recession or enamel loss.

In detail

Managed with desensitising toothpaste (Sensodyne, potassium nitrate) used for 2–4 weeks, fluoride varnish, or dental bonding for exposed roots. Persistent severe sensitivity may require root canal if pulp is inflamed.
