Gingivitis

Definition

The earliest stage of gum disease. Gums are red, swollen, and bleed easily. Fully reversible with good hygiene.

In detail

Caused by plaque buildup along the gumline. Signs: bleeding when brushing or flossing, red or puffy gums, bad breath. Two weeks of good hygiene + professional cleaning usually resolves it. If ignored, progresses to periodontitis.
