Zirconia

Definition

A strong white ceramic used for crowns, bridges, and some implants. Very durable for heavy-biting areas.

In detail

Zirconium dioxide is 3–5× stronger than other dental ceramics (900–1200 MPa). Less translucent than E.max but newer 'high translucency' zirconia is suitable for front teeth too. Ideal for molars and grinders.
