Definition
The horizontal distance between upper and lower front teeth. Normal is 1–3 mm; excessive overjet is 'buck teeth'.

Often caused by thumb sucking, genetics, or jaw size mismatch. Treated with orthodontics, often with elastics or headgear in severe cases. Also called class II malocclusion.
