Definition
A surgical procedure that removes the tip of a tooth's root to treat persistent infection after a failed root canal.
In detail
Performed when a standard root canal or retreatment hasn't resolved the infection. The root tip is exposed through the gum, 3–4 mm is removed, and the remaining canal is sealed. Success rate 85–90%. Alternative: extraction with implant replacement.
