Autograft (your own bone)
- Harvested from another oral site
- Best biological integration
- Adds second surgical site
- Best for: large defects
Allograft (donor human bone)
- Sterile processed bone
- Well-tolerated
- No second site
- Most common in Dubai
Xenograft (bovine bone)
- Slow-resorbing scaffold
- Excellent volume maintenance
- No animal disease transmission risk
- Often combined with other grafts
Alloplast (synthetic)
- No biological origin
- Various compositions (hydroxyapatite, tricalcium phosphate)
- Newer, less long-term data
Typical choice
Mixed allograft + xenograft is standard for most implant cases. Autograft reserved for large defects.
