The front teeth used for biting. Humans have eight incisors — four upper, four lower.

Central incisors are the two middle front teeth; lateral incisors flank them. Most visible teeth in a smile, so critical in cosmetic dentistry. Usually first teeth to erupt in infants (6–12 months) and first replaced with permanent teeth (6–8 years).
