Implant vs Natural Tooth: Which Is Better?
A healthy natural tooth is always preferable. Implants are the best replacement when saving isn't possible.

Advantages of natural tooth
- Periodontal ligament (natural shock absorber)
- Sensory feedback
- Better bone preservation
- Lower total lifetime cost if salvageable
Advantages of implant
- No decay risk
- Never needs root canal
- 95%+ success at 10 years
- Better than any bridge
When to save
A tooth with enough structure, viable root, and healthy surrounding bone is usually worth saving — even at AED 5,000–10,000 for root canal + crown.
When to replace
- Vertical root fracture
- Severe bone loss
- Failed previous root canal
- Tooth that repeatedly re-abscesses
The decision
Have both options priced and explained. Sometimes replace is cleaner; sometimes save is smarter. Your dentist should honestly discuss both.
