What it is
A small temporary cap screwed onto the implant while bone heals around it and gum shapes.
Duration
- Immediate loading: sometimes attached crown same day
- Conventional healing: 2–4 weeks with healing cap
Care
- Gentle brushing around it
- Salt-water rinses
- Avoid rubbing with toothpicks or floss
- Report any looseness
When it comes off
Contact your dentist — usually can be replaced in minutes.
Transition to crown
Healing cap swapped for abutment, then crown placed.
