Implant Aftercare: First Week Protocol
The first 7 days determine healing quality. Here's the daily checklist.

Day of surgery
- Bite on gauze 30–45 min
- Cold compress 20 min on, 20 off
- No rinsing
- Soft food only
- Head elevated sleeping
Day 2
- Start gentle salt-water rinses
- Keep ice packs during day
- Mild pain reliever as needed
Days 3–5
- Swelling peaks
- Warm (not hot) compresses
- Soft diet
- Gentle brushing around site
Days 6–7
- Swelling resolving
- Back to normal activity gradually
- Suture removal appointment if applicable
When to call
- Severe pain past day 3
- Fever
- Pus or bad taste
- Heavy bleeding
- Implant feels loose
